OSilas Residence Hall Renovation Celebrated

Members of the campus community gathered on November 30 at the newly designated OSilas Residence Hall to celebrate the complete renovation of one of the College’s original buildings. Olivia “Vicki” Ford ’60 MS ‘87 and her husband Si, Bronxville residents, generously donated funds to give the building she lived in as an undergraduate a top to bottom make-over, restoring the 1928 residence hall while updating the interior to include a bright and lively living area, study rooms and bedrooms.

“Some people give back to one community where they live. Vicki and Si are people who give back to every community they are part of—Bronxville, Yonkers, Sarah Lawrence…and much more,” said President Karen Lawrence at the unveiling of a plaque designating the building once known as Gilbert as OSilas Residence Hall. With many students in attendance, Vicki Ford shared her thoughts on the benefits of a Sarah Lawrence education: "Because you’ve learned how to be a problem solver and a critical thinker here at Sarah Lawrence, your future will be secure—whatever you dream to do, or try to accomplish. Keep reaching for the stars!”
