On November 14, 2018, Sarah Lawrence honored its Davis United World College scholars at a luncheon in Bronxville. Maya Amolo Kidha ’22 from Kenya, and Lisa Masuda ’22 from Japan were presented with special globe ornaments provided by the Davis UWC Program to first year Davis scholars. Neema Osewe ’19, Arnav Sibal ’19, and Fanny Ketter ’20, who also came to Sarah Lawrence through the program, joined in the celebration.
The Davis United World College Scholars Program is the world’s largest, privately funded, international scholarship program—supporting more than 2,900 undergraduates from 159 nations. Since 2009, the program has provided grants to Sarah Lawrence to support United World College graduates matriculated at the College.
Due to their exemplary pre-college education, Davis UWC scholars arrive on the Sarah Lawrence campus well prepared for Sarah Lawrence’s rigorous and highly personalized pedagogy. Their international exposure allows them to work well in cross-cultural groups and their diverse perspectives add voices to the campus that help students better understand the complex forces that will determine the shape of the 21st century.
